Can anyone say "Field Trip!!!!"

Field Trip!!!! Here we go again.... For the week of November 11th -15th our topic will be about butterflies. On Friday, November 15th, we will be taking a class field trip to the St. Martin Butterfly Farm in Le Galion!!! For science we will be learning about the metamorphosis process with butterflies. We will also see the many different types of butterflies that are here on the island.
 
 
 
 
Students will be able to see the different stages from the egg to adult butterfly. Pretty cool huh?!?! That's not all....We will be writing about the different stages step-by-step. We will also be drawing a diagram of the different step shown in the picture above.
 
 
 
Students will also be naming the different parts of the butterfly. For Arts and crafts students will be creating their very own butterfly. Students will be able to use colored paper, paints, and other materials we have in the classroom. 
 

 
 
For language arts, we will be writing poems about butterflies. A journal entry about the butterflies around our houses and the different colors we see. 


We are also going to have other activities through out the week. This is going to be a great adventure!!! Be sure to return your permission slips no later than the Thursday, November 15th.
 

Field Trip Around the Island!!!

Exciting news!  On Thursday, November 7th, we will be taking a class field trip around the island to visit the monuments, that connect the French and Dutch side together. We will also be visiting the fort on the French side named Fort-Louis.


First we will tour the island visiting the monuments, the fort will be our last stop. We will also be visiting the fort on the French side named Fort-Louis. First we will tour the island visiting the monuments, the fort will be our last stop.


Students should where their gym shoes, as we will be hiking it up to the top. We will also be having lunch there. Students can walk with a note pad and a pencil to draw and write about their experience. Grade 2 will be presenting along with the other classes about their experience for St. Maarten's Day on Monday, November 11th. Make sure to turn in the signed permission slip by Monday, February 7th along with the $4 fee. Lunch will be provided. We are going to have load of fun kids!!!

Family Tree Oct 28-Nov 1

This week we will be working on our family trees. Parents and students, the family tree will start at the grandparents. Parents, you are allowed to help, but students must write the information under each picture on their own. We will have time in class to work on decorating the projects. Students should have this project turned in no later than Friday, November 1. Students, Please use small passport pictures for you project they can be actual pictures or copies of them. I am very excited to see what you can design for your family trees. Let's do it!!!
